Continuity Of Service
Last Modified : 1st. January 2024
SeriesBible is what is known as a SaaS ( Software as a Service ) business.
Although no web-based service provider can absolutely guarantee 100% uptime, here at Endeavours Partnership we do our very
best to eliminate or minimise service interruptions.
This page briefly outlines some of the measures that Endeavours Partnership takes to ensure that we run our services with as
little downtime as possible and also how we protect the security of your data and the materials you create within SeriesBible.
SeriesBible is hosted by IONOS, the largest ISP ( Internet Service Provider ) in Europe, with data centres in Europe, the United Kingdom and the United States.
-
IONOS is owned by the multi-national United Internet company
-
The primary web servers used by SeriesBible are based in the United Kingdom,
which is where Endeavours Partnership is registered as a business
IONOS operates industry-leading BCP ( Business Continuity Plan ) procedures which, amongst other things, include :
-
UPS ( Uninterruptible Power Supply ) which automatically kicks in should the main electricity supply fail
-
isolating IONOS customers from each other such that the actions of one customer cannot affect any
other customer
-
automated cloud back-up services to safeguard clients' data
-
constantly evolving industry-standard defences ( firewalls ) against malicious attacks by bad actors
-
monitoring source and destination IP addresses
-
analysing the content of data as it is transmitted to our webservers and
checking data patterns against a constantly updated database of known threats
-
ensuring traffic uses recognised internet protocols
SeriesBible
We employ external monitoring services which continually test our website to ensure that it is still operating; in
the event that it is not, these services automatically inform us via external communication channels which do not
reside on our web servers.
In addition to the defences outlined above, SeriesBible operates application-specific defences of its own.
Some of the more obvious measures include :
-
Securing our website with an SSL ( Secure Sockets Layer ) certificate
-
this means every communication between you and us is securely encrypted before it is transmitted
-
you can check this by looking for the padlock symbol in your browser; you can also see that
every connection to our website begins with https:// .
-
this is the industry standard for secure transmission across the internet; your online
bank, for example, uses the same technology
-
'http' stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol and was the original standard for connecting
browsers to websites
-
'https' stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol - Secure; it can only be used in conjunction
with an SSL certificate; all websites which process personal information should use the
https protocol
-
We enforce strong user passwords
-
We create individual, strongly encrypted databases for each Customer
-
every record you create is securely transmitted to us by means of the SSL protocol
and then SeriesBible saves it to your database using an internal encryption which is unique to you
-
every record you read is decrypted by SeriesBible and then securely sent to your brower using the
SSL protocol
